The Mega Art Show that Sudbury deserves!
The Sudbury Summer Art Show 2014 is an unmissable event happening in St Peters on Sudbury Market Hill. It is a new showcase for some of the best art and crafts being produced locally. Many of the artists are well known and have a professional reputation. Running for four days - 17th to 21st July and open 10am until 8pm from Thursday to Saturday (Sunday 4pm), there is every opportunity to catch this show and marvel at the remarkable creative talent drawn from Sudbury and its surrounding area.
During exhibition Open Days, artists will be manning the show and welcoming their adoring public. The Preview Evening on Wednesday 16th from 7-9pm is open to anybody with an interest in art. There'll be evening refreshments and Hintlesham resident pianist, Peter Durrant will be playing the music of Gershwin/Cole Porter. It all promises to be a bit of a party!
The Sudbury Summer Art Show is biennial and the sister exhibition to "Visions of Sudbury" - both run under the umbrella of The Sudbury Society and over the years have proved very popular with both exhibitors and the public.
"This year, the organising committee decided to 'raise the bar' and encourage a more professional presentation, and to make this exhibition stand out from the many art shows that happen at this time of year" said Robin Drury, the exhibition organiser "As a result we have been really pleased at the response from the top artists around who are keen to be part of this event".
One of the highlights of the show will be a painting by world renowned local painter, David Porteous-Butler. He has donated this work in order to raise money for the Save the Children charity. It will be sold by dutch auction during the show.
Apart from original works for sale, there is a shop where you can buy unframed work, prints and greetings cards - all produced by the artists themselves.
Get along to the Show, either on the Preview Evening or maybe during the daytime or evenings to catch an unmissable display of local talent.
